Since being opened by Zalaegerszeg council in the spring of 1998, it has served as a reception point to greet visitors to the town.

The Tourinform office functions as a friendly up-to-date centre for comprehensive tourist information: offering details on attractions, programmes and services. It further works on strengthening the reputation and raising awareness of Zalaegerszeg. It keeps a close working relationship with city organisations, institutions and other service providers working in the tourist industry. The Tourinform Tourist Information Centre is part of a countrywide network helping travellers in Hungary. Working together, they can provide national as well as regional publications such as: general information, national and regional tourist brochures, accommodation listings, general local event programmes, maps etc.

Visitors can find on sale a wide selection of small items such as coloring book of Zalaegerszeg, locally hand crafted souvenirs, fridge magnets, postcards, maps and books about Zalaegerszeg.
