Terek, ligetek

The passage of time is most easily observed in Zalaegerszeg at the Mindszenty square, where the Maria Magdalena Parish Church is permanent, and its surroundings are temporary. No matter the fires, construction, a new road, the church always “prevailed”.

•    Maria Magdalena Parish Church
•    The Holy Trinity Statue was created in the Keszthely-born József Zitterbarth’s stone-cutter workshop in 1810.
•    The Castle Maquette is the work of Ferenc Farkas, a sculptor who won the Zalaegerszeg Award, on the occasion of the 770th anniversary of the city’s first mention in 2017.
•    The sculpture created by Sándor Kiss depicting József Mindszenty, Esztergom’s archbishop and Hungary’s last Prince Primate can be viewed on the southern side of the parish church. It was placed between the foundation walls of the medieval chapel.
