It was one of the first places in our city to become environmentally protected. As it was discovered from artefacts, it was a widely popular area for rest even in the prehistoric era.

Then we recommend you the Bird Forest Trail built in Alsóerdő, Zalaegerszeg! The 1200-meter-long trail cozily going through the old oak forest has 11 big, colourful information boards, with which you can discover the birds nesting in and moving through Hungary.
The forestry specialists have placed a large bird-feeder and wooden burrows in different sizes. So, if you are clever and watchful, you can literally take a glimpse at the life of birds.
 

If you feel like admiring azalea bushes or smelling the rhododendrons, you can do both. However, touch nothing, as this gorgeous valley at the edge of the city is a botanically protected area. It is one of Zala county’s seven natural wonders, which can be visited all year round, but can be enjoyed in its full glory in May.

In any case, you can surely admire the rolling landscape of Göcsej that is so characteristic of the city’s surroundings from the TV Tower’s café and the open lookout!
